SILT — The town of Silt Board of Trustees once again has a full board after appointing Silt resident Teresa L. Breslin to fill the seat vacated by Joe Sos in January.
Breslin, 51, has lived in Silt since 2006 and said that she just felt that it was time to do her civic duty and apply for the position.
“I think its important, as a person who lives here, it's easy to sit there and let everyone else do the work, but people need to get involved in their towns,” Breslin said.
This is Breslin's first experience as a town trustee she said. But she felt compelled to participate because she likes the direction the town is going and felt that she could contribute.
“I like the direction Silt is going in, and I would like to see it continue that way,” Breslin said.
Breslin said that she had the time to give as a Trustee. She works part time as a book keeper for two local companies and also works part-time for Vista Chevrolet in Glenwood Springs.
Breslin is not related to New Castle Mayor Frank Breslin. She was appointed to the board of trustees at the Feb. 28 meeting. This is Breslin's first term on the Silt Town Board of Trustees.
She will fill out the remaining term of former Trustee Sos, who resigned in January citing health reasons. The term expires in April 2012. She was also the only person to apply for the open seat.
This was Sos's second term as a Trustee. Sos was appointed to the seat in September 2007. He then ran again in April 2008 and won. This was his first official term elected to the seat.
