When did you open for business?
We opened in November 2010, at the Battlement Mesa Golf Course.
How long have you been in the food industry?
I went to culinary school after I got out of college and then I worked at a Restaurant in Aspen until June, then that is when I started to get things together to open the bake shop.
Where do you live?
Parachute. I've lived here since I was 9 years old.
What is your background? Where did you learn to cook?
No previous experience. I worked for Easy Cuisine in high school, but that is it.
What is Dani's Rockin' Bake Shoppe?
We focus mainly on catering deserts and pastries and specialty orders. So we do specialty cakes, breads and pastries and holiday events.
What is your specialty?
Our pies are our biggest sellers. Our main seller is the caramel apple pie.
How many different types of pies do you make?
I can do it all. I've done it all from mince meat to regular cherry pies.
Is there a story behind the name of the bake shop?
Not really, my mom came up with it. And we thought that since I grew up in the valley having my name in it would hopefully spark some more business because a lot of people in the valley know who I am.
How many people work at the shop?
It's just me, and then a friend of mine from culinary school comes in occasionally to help out.
What is the best aspect of your job?
I can do what I love and I don't have anyone else to answer to except the customers.
What is the worst aspect?
When stuff doesn't turn out exactly the way you wanted it to.
What is your favorite item to make?
I love doing specialty cake orders, like birthday cakes and wedding cake.
What is the most memorable cake you have made to date?
Back in December I made a cake that looked like Lego blocks. It was a lot of fun to do.
What is your favorite item to eat?
I could eat bread all day. Focaccia bread is probably my favorite.
Favorite food outside of your goodies?
I love pasta.
What is one thing that not many people know about you?
A lot of people don't know that we are open. So, it would be nice for them to know that we are open and available to make them anything they can think of.
We are going to start selling items from the activity center for customers on a daily basis. But for now, she focuses on deliveries from DeBeque to New Castle.
