Catch and repeat
James Hylton, fishing with his grandpa in a local lake, caught this 35-inch pike and a 30-inch small one, but of course, it's not as big as grandpa's in the past.He doesn't want to have this one stuffed until he's caught a bigger one. He is the grandson of Rodney and Mary Ann Olson of Rifle, and son of Mrs. Laurie Hogan of Grand Junction, and Mark Hylton of Grand Junction.

Rifle High art students show off at Chalk it Up!
This past Saturday Rifle High School art teacher Liz Waters took her Advanced Art students to the second annual Chalk It Up! sidewalk chalk juried contest in Snowmss on the Mall. Jose Lira, a senior, claimed first place for the student sidewalk chalk art. He won $100 and a plaque.
Happy anniversary to the Smiths
Happy fourth Anniversary to Matt and Lyndsay Jo Smith of Rifle. Today, Sept. 2, is their anniversary, so congratulate this still very happy couple if you see them around town.
Smith-Aragon engaged
Galen and Sonya Smith of Rifle are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Josh Smith to Jessie Aragon, daughter of Jim and Kelly Aragon of Salida, Colorado.Josh is a 2006 graduate of American School and is currently employed at MicroPlastics in Glenwood Springs.
Jessie recently graduated from Salida High School and will be attending Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
A May 2011 wedding is planned.
Son number four
Proud parents Lemuel and Gretchen Harr of Rifle welcomed the birth of their fourth son Wylder Lemuel Harr on August 9th, 2010 at 1:44 pm, weighing 8 pounds 13 ounces, and 20 inches tall at Valley View Hospital. Also, welcoming Wylder home are his three bothers Bodin 5 years old, Scout 4 years old and Xain 18 months old.Proud grandparents are Frank and Pat Oakley of Parachute and Merlin and Linda Harr of Raleigh, Miss. Wylder was born on his great grandmother's birthday, Mildred Oakley of Decatur, AL.
