BATTLEMENT MESA — If you're looking for a place to rent, you can sign up from now until Thanksgiving for a 25 percent reduction in rental rates from the Battlement Mesa Company.
The company is also waiving application fees and offering deposit payment plans and flexible lease start dates. If you sign a lease before Thanksgiving, you can start the lease anytime before January 31, 2010.
“Basically, we have a large number of vacancies and to some degree, we're adjusting to market conditions,” said Dan Cohen, development manager for the Battlement Mesa Company. “The local economy has suffered greatly since the oil and gas people pulled out. As market conditions changed, we started to vacancies increase.”
The company is seeing a 30-35 percent vacancy rate; before it had 100 percent occupancy, Cohen said.
During the special for new tenants, an unfurnished one bedroom, one bath rents for $565; a two-bedroom, one bath for $600; two-bedroom, two bath for $650; three bedroom, two bath for $725. Furnished rental rates are also available as are weekly and monthly rentals. Single family homes and modular homes are also available. Existing tenants those who sign up after November can also take advantage of lower rates.
Battlement Mesa is located just outside of Parachute off Interstate 70 and bordered by the Colorado River. An unincorporated community in Garfield County there is a town center with a grocery store, flower shop and drycleaners, along with the 53,000-square-foot Battlement Mesa Activities Center which offers an Olympic-size swimming pool, workout and weight rooms, full-size gym, exercise and billiard tables which are available to its tenants.
