Water Conditions
Both reservoirs are currently full and the water temperature is 74 degrees.
Fishing Conditions:
Rifle Gap:
Trout have been caught throughout the reservoir in deep water, especially with Power Bait. Perch were biting between the island and the swim beach. Bass were caught in shallow areas near the swim beach. Pike were caught by the dam with pop gear or anything perch-colored.
Harvey Gap:
Fishing for catfish is very good in the evening, especially with stink bait. Crappie and perch have been caught throughout the lake. Trout were caught near the spillways.
Boat Safety Classes
Boat safety classes are held the third Friday of every month at 6 p.m. at the park office. To register, call (303)791-1954. Fourteen- to 16-year-olds must take this 1 1/2 hour class before operating a motor boat in Colorado.

Thursday, July 17, Who Am I? Rifle Gap State Park, Cottonwood Camp Gazebo, 7-8 p.m.
Come play a game and find out which secret animal you are and what type of habitat you live in.
Friday, July 18, Ready, Set, Grow! Rifle Gap State Park Visitor Center, 7-8 p.m.
Participants will learn about different parts of a plant and will plant their own flower to take home.
Saturday, July 19, Wildflower Hike, Rifle Falls State Park, meet at the base of the Coyote Trail, 10-11 a.m.
Join the park naturalist for a fun wildflower hike on the Coyote Trail. Learn about nature and discover a variety of wildflowers at Rifle Falls State Park.
Sunday, July 20, Invisible Insects, Rifle Falls State Park, meet at the bridge across from the falls, 2-3 p.m.
Catch aquatic insects and play a game to discover the secret message behind their existence. Participants will learn about aquatic insect populations and pollution.
Sunday, July 20, Brilliant Bats, Rifle Falls State Park, meet at the base of the Coyote Trail, 8:30-9:30 p.m.
Join us for an educational and entertaining tour of the caves at Rifle Falls State Park. Don't forget your flashlights!
Wednesday, July 23, Story Time and Fish Art, Rifle Library, 10-11:30 a.m.
Join our park naturalist at the Rifle Library for story time and an arts and craft project about fish, their unique characteristics, and their ability to adapt to their environments.
Next week's events include Story Time and Fish Art, Mountain Lion Jeopardy, Astronomy Exploration and Rifle Falls Nature Hike. For more information, contact the Rifle State Park Office at 625-1607.
